The Lowveld Spiderwatch is a non-profit-making environmental interest group based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
Working closely with The Spider Club of Southern Africa, The Lowveld Spiderwatch share the same goal: Their aim is to encourage an interest in arachnids and nature in general, striving to promote the study of spiders, scorpions, solifuges, whipspiders, harvestmen and pseudo scorpions, by all suitable means. They arrange field outings on a bi-weekly basis to various places in the Lowveld area, focusing on arachnids and the photography thereof. Anyone is welcome to join them on these outings.

The Crocodile Gorge Conservancy is situated about 30km from Nelspruit in the "Krokodil Poort" mountains. It is home to an abundance of wildlife, 410 bird species, and of course lots of little creepy crawlies including insects, spiders and scorpions.
Omegadata together with The Lowveld Spiderwatch have joined forces to facilitate and oversee the Crocodile Gorge Spider Survey. The project is now in its planning phase, and the actual survey should start round about December 2010...
